Distributed Compute-and-Forward Based Relaying Strategies in Multi-User Multi-Relay Networks

چکیده
The compute-and-forward (CMF) relaying technique, proposed by Nazer et al., provides a substantially higher network coding throughput in multiuser cooperative networks, compared to the other conventional relaying techniques. The improvement is due to exploiting the multiuser interference rather than avoiding it. However, a major drawback of this strategy is that the equations decoded by different relays are not necessarily linearly independent, and hence a rank failure may occur at the destination; which results in a substantial reduction of the system rate as well as the diversity order. In this paper, we propose three practical distributed schemes to deal with the problem in a multi-user multi-relay network without central coordinator, in which the relays have not any prior information about each other. In first scheme, a new relaying strategy based on CMF, named incremental compute-and-forward (ICMF), is proposed that requires cooperation among relays. Second, a novel simple strategy, called amplifyforward and compute (AFC), is introduced in which the equations are recovered in the destination rather than in the relays. Finally, the two schemes ICMF and AFC strategies are combined to present hybrid compute-amplify and forward (HCAF) relaying scheme, which improves the performance of the ICMF considerably. We evaluate the performance of our proposed strategies and compare the results with those of the conventional CMF strategy and also the well known Decode and Forward (DF) strategy. The results indicate the substantial superiority of the proposed schemes, specially at the higher number of users and also relays. Polarization of Multi-Relay Channels: A Suitable Method for DF and CF Relaying with Orthogonal Receiver
Polar codes, that have been recently introduced by Arikan, are one of the first codes that achieved the capacity for vast numerous channels and they also have low complexity in symmetric memoryless channels. Polar codes are constructed based on a phenomenon called channel polarization. This paper discusses relay channel polarization in order to achieve the capacity and show that if inputs of tw...
متن کاملCooperative multi-hop transmission in wireless networks
We consider various relaying strategies for wireless networks by comparatively examining direct transmission, conventional relaying, and the novel concepts of cooperative relaying. The latter build on two inherent benefits of relaying systems: the spatial diversity offered by the relay channel, and the ability to exploit the broadcast nature of the wireless medium. Studied cooperative protocols...
متن کاملOptimal Power Management to Minimize SER in Amplify and-Forward Relay Networks
This paper studies optimal power allocation to minimize symbol error rate (SER) of amplify-and-forward cooperative diversity networks. First, we analytically solve optimal power allocation problem to minimize SER for three different scenarios, namely, multi-branch single-relay, single-branch multi-relay and multi-branch multi-relay cooperative diversity networks, all subject to a given total re...
متن کاملAdaptive Multi-Copy Routing for Intermittently Connected Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
Intermittently Connected Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (ICMANs) are mobile networks in which complete source-todestination paths do not exist most of the time because of their sparse topology. Such networks enable communications among sparsely distributed moving objects, e.g. a network of ambulances. Traditional routing schemes are unsuitable in ICMANs because they only forward packets in connected pa...
متن کاملPower Allocation Strategies in Block-Fading Two-Way Relay Networks
This paper aims at investigating the superiority of power allocation strategies, based on calculus of variations in a point-to-point two-way relay-assisted channel incorporating the amplify and forward strategy. Single and multilayer coding strategies for two cases of having and not having the channel state information (CSI) at the transmitters are studied, respectively. Using the notion of cal...
